Building Commission NSW is inviting tradespeople and construction professionals to join its new Building Industry Research Panel. The panel offers members the opportunity to influence policies, services and initiatives shaping the New South Wales construction sector.
Members will have the chance to: share their experiences and perspectives on sector-related topics; participate in research activities, such as surveys, interviews and focus groups; and help shape the future of home building and construction projects in NSW.
Examples of activities include providing feedback on course translations, such as the Supervisors Responsibilities micro-skills course. For certain activities, like focus groups or product testing, panel members may receive gift vouchers for their participation.
Members can choose which activities to engage in and may leave the panel at any time. All responses are confidential.
To join, participants must be at least 16 years old and work, study or train in the NSW building, construction or related industries, including special trades (plumbers, electricians, carpenters), design and architecture, engineering, and building certification.

“As the government agency responsible for regulating the construction sector in NSW, Building Commission NSW is on a journey to shape its future role on sites across the state,” said NSW Building Commissioner James Sherrard.
“But in order for us to take the construction sector in the right direction, we need to hear from people working in the industry about what they see for the future.
“The Building Industry Research Panel will do just that, while ensuring the feedback received during its activities is taken into account and factored into future initiatives, programs and legislation.
“That’s why we’re encouraging everyone in the construction industry to sign up to the NSW Building Industry Research Panel, so they can come along on this journey with us.”
To join the panel, participants simply need to complete a short five-minute sign-up form, answering a few questions about their background, role and experience.
